Carol Ann Polchies
HOULTON — Carol Ann Polchies, 53, passed away Saturday October 31, 2015 at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was born January 19, 1962 in Houlton, the daughter of Valentine and Rose (Silliboy) Polchies.
Carol grew up in Houlton and attended Houlton High School. She worked seasonally, picking fiddleheads and potatoes as well as working in the potato house. Carol also made wreaths and dreamcatchers to sell and would also donate them. She was a member of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians and the Maine Basket Makers Alliance. She enjoyed playing bingo as well as practical jokes on friends and family. She had a contagious smile and was always helping others.
She is survived by her seven children, Valerie, Joseph, Hope, Brandy, Randy, Jessi, Misty; 21 grandchildren; five siblings, Marie, Valentine “Sam”, Mary, Jean, Deborah; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, James, and her beloved dog and best friend “Stuart”. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4 at Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St. Houlton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church of the Visitation with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. A reception will follow the service at the Maliseet Gymnasium. Interment will take place at a later date.
