Historical society will reprise Civil War era
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Historical Society has been asked by SAGE (Seniors Achieving Greater Education) at the University of Maine at Presque Isle to offer a presentation and exhibit about the Civil War and how it affected Presque Isle.
The event will take place this Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the dining hall of Grant Memorial United Methodist Church at 79 Fleetwood St.
In addition to speaking about the changes in society due to the Civil War and how the war directly affected Presque Isle, Historical Society representative Kim Smith will be dressed in period garb and will showcase the Society’s numerous Civil War artifacts, including a kepi cap, an officer’s sword and a peg leg.
In addition, Jeff Roberts, a local educator and Civil War re-enactor, will be in soldier garb and will bring his many artifacts and knowledge to the exhibit.
