Scouting for Food collection Saturday

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine Local area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are once again participating in the Boy Scout National Good Turn for America‚ Scouting for Food, and will collect nonperishable food donations this Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.

Scouting for Food was established as a nationwide good turn in 1987 and local Scouts have continued the tradition of collecting donated food to give to local food pantries.
Families from Presque Isle Troop and Cub Scout Pack 171 have distributed collection bags with flyers requesting food donations. Beginning at 12 noon Saturday until 3 p.m., Scouts will be in local neighborhoods to collect donations.
Non-perishable food items needed include peanut butter, canned meat products, cereals, pasta, canned vegetables and sauces, along with hygiene products such as toothpaste and dental floss.
To participate, place items in the collection bag and leave them by the front doorstep Saturday. Anyone who did not receive a flyer or collection bag may still participate by using any bag or box for donated items.
