HODGDON, Maine — On Oct. 29, the Mill Pond School’s 21st Century Learning Center After-School Program held an informational program concerning Halloween Safety. Trooper Adam Bell from the Maine State Police came and taught the children about the importance of being safe while Trick or Treating.
Trooper Bell emphasized traffic safety, reminding students to walk against traffic, look both ways when crossing the street and to use the sidewalk or shoulder of the road, but remain out of the travel lane when walking from home to home.
He stressed the importance of only entering homes that were well lit, and letting an adult know where they were going. He recommended the children carry a cell phone and to call and let an adult know about any changes in plans, or if they needed to be picked up for a ride home.
The students were instructed to carry a light of some sort, and were all given a reflective wrist/arm band. Assistant Principal Tom Vicaire expressed his gratitude to Trooper Bell for the informative lessons.
