Ted Pettengill
SHERMAN – Theodore “Ted” Pettengill, PA-C, is one of only 224 certified physician assistants (PA-Cs) in the country to be certified for 40 years by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Pettengill was among the first PAs to be nationally certified by NCCPA in 1975. He maintained certification by meeting continuing medical education (CME) requirements every two years and passing rigorous recertification exams every six years.
Pettengill is employed at Northwoods General Practice in Sherman.
“As a certified PA who has made a commitment to maintaining certification and professional standards, I am most proud of serving the people in rural southern Aroostook, northern Washington and northern Penobscot counties,” said Pettengill. “I have tried to be compassionate and bring the best possible care to these fine folks.”
In 2015, NCCPA celebrates 40 years of serving the public through PAs certification and recognizes this small group of PAs who were the first to carry the PA-C designation.
“NCCPA is thrilled to have been a part of the PA profession for 40 years,” says Dawn Morton-Rias, Ed.D, PA-C, president and CEO of NCCPA. “We are even more proud of these certified PAs for serving as pioneers to the profession and for their continued dedication to their career and their patients.”
The NCCPA is the only certifying organization for physician assistants in the U.S. The PA-C credential is awarded to PAs who fulfill certification, certification maintenance and recertification requirements.
