Van Buren pharmacy thinks ‘BEYOND Pink’

VAN BUREN, Maine In response to Pink Aroostook’s call to action to “Think BEYOND Pink” during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (and throughout the year), Hebert Rexall Pharmacy in Van Buren stepped up to the challenge and capped every prescription filled at their Main Street pharmacy during the month of October with a pink cap.

For each prescription filled, $1 was donated to Pink Aroostook, a breast health program based at Cary Medical Center that serves breast cancer patients and survivors throughout Aroostook County.
Pharmacy owner John Hebert and staff were on hand to present the $5,000 donation to the Aroostook County-based breast health program.
“I am very glad that we are able to make this donation to help Aroostook County residents who are dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis. The fact that the money stays local is of great importance to us,” Hebert stated.
Bethany Zell, program director for Pink Aroostook, was in Van Buren to receive the donation on behalf of the organization.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of Hebert Rexall Pharmacy and overwhelmed by their support of our program. This donation is especially timely as our grant from the Susan G. Komen, Maine Affiliate comes to a close at the end of February,” shared Zell.
Pink Aroostook has provided more than $4,500 in financial assistance, gas/grocery cards and breast cancer resources to patients and survivors from Fort Kent to Island Falls since January 2015. “These new funds will allow our patient support fund to continue well into 2016,” continued Zell.
“We plan to continue this fundraiser annually and look forward to partnering again with Pink Aroostook in support of the resources they provide locally,” Hebert said at the check presentation.
