FASHION SHOW — The Dollars for Scholars at Katahdin High School produced a fashion show with clothing provided by McKenney’s Clothing and Amber’s Klassie Klo’s of Patten. 100 Years Ago – Nov. 17, 1915
Ox, to horse, to tractor – Time was when the horse was regarded as too light a draft animal for the heavy task of plowing, but the horse displaced the ox because of his speed. Now, for the same reason, the horse gives way to the tractor. Even with gasoline costing more than fifty cents a gallon, as it now does in France, the motor takes the lead.
Controlling motion pictures – One of the pressing problems in our County is the adequate control of motion pictures, a control ensuring the exhibition of only such films as will exert a beneficial influence upon all who see them.
75 Years Ago – Nov. 14, 1940
Gene Autry – Ralph Pinkham, general manager of the Temple Theatre, shakes hands with Gene Autry, popular star of the Republic Pictures western movies at a recent meeting of M&P Theatres managers in Boston.
Modern press – The Houlton Pioneer Times this week goes to its readers for the first time as printed on a modern Duplex Model A Web perfecting press and thus becomes the first weekly newspaper in northern Maine to improve its pressroom facilities to modern standards and to attempt, through this expansion, to provide better, prompter and greater service for its advertisers and subscribers.
50 Years Ago – Nov. 18, 1965
10th Rotary Auction – More than 700 articles will be offered for sale Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the 10th annual Rotary Radio Auction. A special feature of this year’s auction will be the gift to someone of a color television set.
Green arrow – The addition of a green arrow to permit right turns at the Court and Military streets traffic light is being installed by the Houlton Water Company.

Guy’s Satellite – Guy’s Satellite recently held a grand opening at its new location at 20 Bangor Street.
‘Curds and whey’ – The Monticello kindergarten recently prepared “curds and whey” for their mid-morning snack. They all admitted they got the cooking idea from “Little Miss Muffet.” They sat on their “tuffets” and served themselves to their prepared “curds on crackers.”
