Program to help invest in local community
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine –– The Housing Authority of Fort Fairfield and Morningview LLC recently presented donations to the Fort Fairfield Elementary School 21st Century Kids program.
Each entity presented $1,500 to the program, making for a $3,000 boost for after-school activities.
Housing Authority Executive Director Wayne Troicke said he looks at the program “as a way to invest in our children and to help fund a program that provides a very valuable service to our community.”
He said the funds came from unused scholarship funds that were approved by the HAFF Board of Commissioners and the Board of Directors of the Fort Fairfield Residential Development Corporation, which owns Morningview LLC.
According to SAD 20, the after-school program operates Monday through Thursday until 5 p.m. There are three sessions throughout the school year. The main goals include academic enrichment and improvement and health and wellness. Students who participate are involved in physical activity, receive homework help and are offered academic enrichment, and have a healthy snack.
