Trees taking shape for annual festival
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Decorations are being gathered, trees are being trimmed and plans are sailing along for the second annual St. Apollonia Dental Clinic Festival of Trees, slated for next weekend in Presque Isle.
All are invited to come visit this year’s festival, which will feature 44 creatively decorated trees and gift items. One tree includes items “all about Minnie Mouse,” including a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe, and another tree features Spiderman and all items “Spidey.”
The Festival takes place at the NMCC Smith Wellness Center Gymnasium Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Visitors will stroll through a winter wonderland of trees and enjoy a visit from Santa, a chorus of schoolchildren from area schools and dancers from MoonDance Studios. Refreshments will be available at the Gingerbread Cafe, featuring hot dogs, soup, mac-and-cheese or chili.
Inexpensive raffle tickets may be purchased and those attending are invited to deposit tickets for the trees of their choice. All trees will be raffled off on Sunday afternoon. WInners need not be present to win.
Admission to the festival is $2 (free for children under 12) and raffle tickets are $5 for 10 tickets (or 50 cents each).
Proceeds will go toward dental care for area children at the clinic.
