HOULTON, Maine — Author Cheryl Williams of Amity read from her book “Stolen Innocence; Let the Healing Begin,” on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Cary Library. She also was available to sign her new book, which is meant to raise awareness about childhood sexual assault.
“I am thrilled to be finally sharing my story,” Williams said. “(It is) a dream of mine that has become a reality. A journey filled with loss, tears, happiness, hope and one I could not have walked alone. God orchestrated the healing of my inner child, through people, dreams, movies and circumstances.
“I stumbled and fell many times, but I always brushed myself off and got back up. I was down for the count longer at times than others, but I never quit! I couldn’t, it was never an option! It is my desire to bring hope for healing to all victims of childhood sexual assault. It forever changes who you were meant to be, but I decided a little over 10 years ago, I was going to use the heinous crime (that happened to me) to help bring awareness to something that is so vile that people have a hard time to talk about or even to comprehend that such evil exists! But, it has to be talked about!”
