Tractor-trailer skids on icy road,
rolls over on Route 11

NASHVILLE PLANTATION, Maine — A Smyrna man escaped serious injury on Monday after he overturned his tractor-trailer during the first significant snowfall of the season.

The crash happened just before 6:15 a.m. when Lucas Landry, 36, was traveling on Portage Road, state Trooper Jared Sylvia said in a written statement issued Monday afternoon.

The trooper said Landry was heading south, hauling a load of wood chips in his 1992 Peterbilt tractor-trailer when he lost control of the rig on the ice and slush covered road. Landry veered off the roadway, skidded to the right and careened into a ditch. The truck and trailer rolled onto its side and and struck a utility pole.
Landry, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash, according to Sylvia.
The truck and trailer were owned by Keith Mitchell and Sons Trucking out of Sherman. Members of the Maine Forestry Service and Maine Department of Transportation assisted at the crash.
