BLAINE — Arlene Lunn Fletcher Shaw, 85, widow of Wayman O. Fletcher and wife of Merrill Shaw, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 19, 1930 in Summerfield, NB, Canada, the daughter of George and Lucy (Antworth) Lunn.
Arlene grew up in Summerfield, NB and attended local schools. She married Wayman Fletcher June 21, 1947 and together they raised their family and worked on the farm together. Arlene was a very talented singer and musician playing the accordion, piano and guitar during services at church. She drove school bus for many years for SAD #42. Arlene was a lifelong member of the Full Gospel Assembly of Mars Hill. She was a Godly, loving and caring mother as well as a prayer warrior.
Arlene is survived by her children Sandra DeLong and her companion Philip Walton of Wilmot, NB, Canada, Peggy Fletcher of Bonneau, SC, Twila and Ray Tarbox, Sr. of Mars Hill, Marla and Eric Mean of Blaine, Leah Mitchum and her husband Paul of Greeleyville, SC, Vinal and Elaine Fletcher of Blaine; eight grandchildren Michael DeLong, BJ Young Grooms, Faith Mathers, Hope Green, Blease Faulkner, Ashley Caron Estey, Lisa-Marie Howlett and Marci-Rae Jerez; ten great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Wayman, her daughter Lisa Joy, her grandson Kevin DeLong, brothers Vernon, Kilburn, Glen, Clinton “Jimmy”, Norvel and Charles, sisters Louise Shannon and Jean Lunn.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Full Gospel Assembly of Mars Hill. Funeral services were conducted at the church at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 with Revs. Richard Bell and Paul Howlett officiating.
Interment took place at the King’s Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill. Following the interment a reception took place in the church fellowship hall.
