     PORTER, Ivan R., 87, ASHLAND, at Presque Isle, November 19, 2015. At Ivan’s request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, Ashland.

    ASHLAND – Ivan R. Porter, 87, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at a Presque Isle nursing home. He was born September 23, 1928, in Presque Isle, a son of the late Berton and Olive (Bagley). Porter and was raised in Mapleton.
American Flag Color    He was employed by the State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and served over 20 years as a game warden, retiring in 1971. Mr. Porter was self-employed thereafter as owner and operator of Big Machias Lake Camps, guiding, trapping and a Christmas Tree farmer, in addition to selling and servicing Motoski machines.
    Ivan was a veteran of the Korean War and a life member of the American Legion, Post 109, and the VFW, Post 9699, Ashland. He was a long-time member of the Atlantic Salmon of Northern Maine, Aroostook River Fish & Game Club, Ashland Snowmobile Club, life member of the Maine Professional Guides Association, Maine Trappers Association, Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, and past member of the Ashland Rotary Club.
    He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Lynn Porter of Monmouth; two siblings, Blanche Littlefield of Waterville and B. Homer Porter of Savannah, NY; two grandchildren, Corey R. Dyke and Erin M. Dyke, both of Monmouth; a special niece and caregiver, Anne Dsupin; and several nieces and nephews.
    Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Delores (White) Porter in May 2015; and his brother, Carleton Porter during WWII in 1943.
    At Ivan’s request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., P.O. Box 39, Ashland.
