HOULTON, Maine — In the couple of weeks since the season officially ended Houlton High School had several runners recognized for various awards throughout the various leagues they compete in.
Receiving All-Aroostook honors this year we have Isaiah Brown, Rylee Warman, Olivia Winslow and Victoria Holmes. All-Aroostook was determined specifically by the Aroostook County Championship race results.
Brown also earned a spot on the First Team All-PVC (Penobscot Valley Conference), while Warman was named to the Second Team for girls and Winslow received honorable mention. PVC team placing was heavily weighted towards the PVC championship race with consideration to the season as a whole, according to Chris Rines, cross country coach for Houlton.
The Shires had two All-Academic PVC team recipients this year in Adam Casillas and Winslow.
The All-Academic team selection was based on students with six or more semesters of over a 90 grade point average.
Brown and Warman continued their seasons by participating in the United States Track and Field Associations Maine State XC Junior Olympics. Warman came in third place in her race while Brown ran home with the first-place victory.
“This qualified them both to run in the Region 1 (New England and New York),” Rines said. “Isaiah opted to continue on and run in this race which was held just yesterday (Sunday) in Smithfield, R.I. He ran his personal best for the 5k in 17:06 and captured 10th place to qualify him for the USATF national XC championships to be held at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque, N.M. Dec. 12, 2015.”
