The Penobscot Valley Conference’s all-conference and all-academic teams have been announced for the fall sports season, with Caribou and Presque Isle well represented.
Tori Koch of Presque Isle was voted to the second team. Other selections were Kayla Massey, Soleil Skehan and Eilidh Sidaway, all of John Bapst; Morgan Buck of Hermon, Jenna Conroy and Grace Bickford, both of Foxcroft Academy; Caitlyn King of Old Town, Adriana Novella of MDI and Courtney Wasson and Caitlin Bean, both of Ellsworth. In Class B girls’ soccer, the Vikings’ Maddie Doucette and Eileen Patton and the Wildcats’ Jillian Flynn, Madison Michaud and Taylor Williams made the first team along with Opal Curless and Paige Mason, both of Mount Desert Island; Alex Allain, Brianna Saulter and Emi Higgins, all of Hermon; and Hannah Phillipon of John Bapst.
Curless was the choice as Player of the Year and MJ Ball of Hermon was named Coach of the Year.
In Class B boys, Michael Hunter of Caribou and Nick Bartlett and Kyle Rider, both of Presque Isle, gained first-team honors along with Bruce St. Peter, Colby Clarke, Lukas Firestone and Jared Hamilton, all of Ellsworth; Tobias Hogfelt and Antonio Ayala, both of Foxcroft Academy; Alex Mooney of John Bapst and Kaleb Gifford of Old Town.
The second team consists of Caribou’s Ethan Plourde and Hunter Milliard, as well as Niko Knapp, Zac Libby and Drew Coulombe, all of Old Town; James Peterson and Matt Leach, both of Hermon; Joseph Grubb of MDI, Adrian Garcia of John Bapst, Nate Church of Foxcroft Academy and Alex Braley of Ellsworth.
The boys’ Player of the Year was Firestone, while Luis Ayala of Foxcroft Academy earned Coach of the Year recognition.
For the All-Academic team were, representing the Caribou girls were Kate Finnemore and Jenna Boucher; for the PI girls, Flynn, Williams, Olivia Hudson and Regan Nelson; for the Caribou boys, Hunter, Milliard, Plourde and Benjamin Ezzy; and for the PI boys, Michael Mahon and Sam Gray.
In golf, Caribou’s Donovan Savage and Presque Isle’s Hunter Flynn nabbed berths on the all-conference squad. Others selected were Akira Tanabe of Foxcroft Academy, Austin Baron of Ellsworth, Noah Lennor and Riley MacLeod, both of Bucksport; Jack Lander of Calais, Matt Hanscome of Dexter, Dylan Nickerson and Chris Johnson, both of Penquis; Connor DiAngelo of Greenville, Spencer Kelly and Brennan Hubbard, both of John Bapst; Percy Zentz and Tyler McKenny, both of George Stevens Academy; Cole Daniels, Lucas Shorette, Wes Kauppila, Chris Kauppila and Alex Blackie, all of Old Town; Ryan Dee, Parker Brewer and Drew Marino, all of Houlton; Logan Thompson, Max Woodson, Elliot Sibley, Max Woodman and Jeff Garfield, all of Mattanawcook Academy; Kyle Lamson and Seth Clark, both of MDI; Garrett Putnam of Hermon and Dakota Batchelder of PVHS.
Cross country runners gaining large school first-team all-conference girls’ honors were Simone Michaud of Caribou and Mandy Graham and Madison Jandreau, both of Presque Isle. Also on the first team are Amanda Boyd of John Bapst, Jen Clawson of Foxcroft Academy, Audree O’Meara of Old Town and Emma Strong of MDI.Caribou’s Savage and Jordan Bevins were among those making the All-Academic team.
Those on the second team are Caribou’s Emma Belyea and Madeline Gudde and Presque Isle’s Isabelle Jackson, along with Emily Banks and Xingyao Chen, both of MDI; Kaitlyn Berube of John Bapst and Brianna O’Leary of Old Town.
Gaining honorable mention were Caribou’s Emily Austin and Julia Page and Presque Isle’s Emily Colligan, as well as Sarah Hunt of John Bapst.
On the boys’ side, Evan Desmond, Chathu Karunasiri, Tsion MacLeod and Daniel Randolph, all of Caribou; and Jason Bartley of Presque Isle are on the first team, with Gabe Paquette of Foxcroft and Peter Philbrook of MDI also on the elite squad.
Second-team honorees are Caribou’s Caleb Hunter and Gabe Massey, along with Connor Archer, Connor Poirier and Hunter Willey, all of Old Town; Matt Frost of Ellsworth and Sean Murray of MDI.
Elijah Verhoff of Caribou made honorable mention, with Mark Berry of Ellsworth, Mackenzie Ladd of John Bapst and Nick Reznick of MDI also recognized.
Caribou’s representatives on the Senior All-Academic Team in the sport are Karunasiri, Verhoff, David Hunter and Caleb Hunter, while Jason Bartley and Alyssa Sweeney were Presque Isle runners qualifying.
