Bernard F. Cyr

    American Flag Color LIMESTONE – Bernard F. Cyr, 72, husband of Linda R. (Dinardo) Cyr, passed away Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015, at his Limestone residence, following an extended illness. He was born November 1, 1943, in Caribou, the son of Leo and Irene (Martin) Cyr.

     He was a graduate of the Caribou High School, Class of 1962 and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1968, earning the rank of sergeant.

     Following his discharge from the Army, Bernard became employed as a draftsman with the Civil Engineers at Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, from 1968 to 1994.

     He was married to Linda Dinardo on November 25, 1967. Bernie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Caribou, and enjoyed mountain biking and bicycle repair. He especially enjoyed genealogy and was a self-taught harmonica player, often playing at the Caribou Maine Veterans Home. He was also a Big Foot enthusiast.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Cyr was predeceased by two brothers, Murchie and Elbridge Cyr.

     He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda R. Cyr of Limestone; one daughter, Lisa Elaine Cyr Norman of Lewiston; one sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Rick Strelka of West Jordan, UT; four grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Perry, Brandon Ryan Perry, Cory Bryant Perry and Destiny Rae Norman, all of Lewiston; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

     A private committal service will be conducted at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Cyr to the Disabled American Veterans, 60 Boundary Line Road, Bridgewater, ME 04735.
