Blaine man dies in head-on crash

    BLAINE, Maine An Aroostook County man was killed early Saturday evening after the car he was driving crossed the centerline and struck a pick-up truck head-on, according to the Maine State Police.

    Trooper Nick Casavant said Nathan Smith, 64, of Blaine was killed as he was traveling east in his 1998 Toyota Corolla on the Robinson Road in Blaine just after 6:30 p.m.
Smith crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Spencer Garrison, 19, also of Blaine, who was traveling west, Casavant said Sunday morning.
Smith died at the scene and Garrison was treated and released at the scene, the trooper reported.
Both vehicles sustained substantial damage and the Robinson Road was closed for about four hours.
The accident remained under investigation Sunday morning, according to Casavant.
