Local radio station to once again broadcast
high school basketball games
HOULTON, Maine — Local radio station WHOU 100.1 FM will once again be broadcasting high school basketball games on the airwaves and the Internet when the season tips off Friday evening.
Games will once again be broadcast with video on the radio station’s website, www.whoufm.com, with north and south streams available to allow two games to be shown on the same night.
Ken Holck will return for his 18th season calling basketball games. Holck will miss the first early part of the regular season as he recovers from a recent health matter. In his place to start the year will be the south stream team of Tim Tweedie and Rob Moran. Among those representing the north stream are play-by-play announcers Steve Carmichael and Kevin Sjoberg and color commentators Bobby Russell and Bill Guerrette.
The broadcast schedule, which is subject to change, for games through Christmas is as follows:
Saturday, Dec. 4 — SAHS at CAHS Boys, 7 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 7 — Mattanawcook Academy at Houlton girls, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 8 — Easton at SAHS Boys, 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 9 — Presque Isle at Houlton Girls, 7 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 10 — Hodgdon at Fort Fairfield Boys, 7 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 11 — Ashland at Easton Boys, 7 PM North Stream; and Fort Fairfield at SAHS Girls, 7 p.m. radio and South Stream.
Monday, Dec. 14 — Easton at Fort Fairfield Boys, 7 p.m. North Stream; and Calais at Houlton Boys, 7 p.m. radio and South Stream.
Tuesday, Dec. 15 — Fort Kent at Caribou Girls, 5:30 p.m. and Boys game, 7 p.m. North Stream.
Wednesday, Dec. 16 — SAHS at Washburn Girls, 5:30 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m. North Stream; and Presque Isle at Houlton Boys, 7 p.m. radio and South Stream.
Friday, Dec. 18 — Ashland at CAHS Boys, 7 p.m. North Stream; and East Grand at Hodgdon Boys, 5 p.m. and Girls game at 6:30 p.m. radio and South Stream.
Saturday, Dec. 19 — Old Town at Caribou Girls, 3 p.m. and Boys at 4:30 p.m., North Stream; Houlton at MDI Girls 3 p.m., Boys 4:30 p.m., South Stream; and Katahdin at Hodgdon Boys, 7 p.m. radio and South Stream.
