Respected teen advocate retires

To the editor:

On November 20th, Jack Foster retired after 30 years of dedicating his life to working with young people in Aroostook County. Jack is most well-known for the nationally recognized Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp Program (ATLC) which he developed in 1987.

ATLC is a drug prevention and leadership development program of the Aroostook Mental Health Services (AMHC) for students in grades 5-9 in Aroostook County.

Jack poured his heart and soul into ATLC and has made a significant impact on hundreds of teens and adults from The County over the years. He gave them the skills they need to make positive decisions in their lives and how to be leaders in their schools and communities.

If it wasn’t for Jack’s guidance, patience and determination, ATLC would not be in its 30th consecutive year of operation.

We would like to publicly say, “Thank you, Jack! We hope you enjoy your retirement immensely. No one deserves it more than you!“
