HELOTES, TX — John Crawford Lowrey, 69, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015, in Helotes, TX. He was born in Houlton, ME on March 1, 1946, to Frederick and Marjorie Lowrey. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran; and was a Master Mason, Monument Lodge #96, in Houlton, ME. He farmed potatoes alongside his father on his family’s farm in Aroostook County, worked as a trailer trucker and was the winner of several “safe driver” awards. John was an avid and accomplished woodworker and cabinet maker. His passion was making Shaker-style furniture and boxes, which he pursued through his business “STIX”. John was adored by everyone, never met a stranger and loved animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frederick D. Lowrey. Survivors include his wife, Paula Sue Shaw Lowrey; children, John A. Lowrey of Chesapeake, VA, Jill R. (Lowrey) Brown of Longwood, FL, and Thomas O. Lowrey of Houlton, ME; grandchildren, James, Christina, Megan and Abbey; and a sister, Joyce Ann (Lowrey) Udell of Jonesborough, TN.
