Rotary Club meeting notes

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Dec. 1 at the Aroostook Health Center and the special speakers were Jerusha Benn, an instructor at Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School, as well as students Noelle Bailey, Isabelle Wright and Tori Brewer, who were among 10 that attended this year’s Youth In Government conference in Augusta held Nov. 13-15. Bailey and Brewer served in the Senate, while Wright was in the House of Representatives.

Entirely student run, this event really gives students an idea of the work that takes place in Augusta by our elected officials. There were 93 bills presented before various committees met to discuss them.

Of the five bills presented by CAHS students, four of them were on the list of bills that were “expected to be controversial.”

Bingo

The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post. There are cash prizes and refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends.
