BARNES, Ruth Elizabeth, 67, PRESQUE ISLE, at Bangor, December 5, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wed., Dec. 9, 2015, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Ruth Elizabeth Barnes, 67, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, surrounded by her family at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 11, 1948, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Basil and Alberta (Bell) Wright.
She worked for 38 years at Maine Public Service Co., mostly recently as a payroll executive. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a member of PROBUS, and volunteered with her husband at the American Folk Festival in Bangor.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Philip E. Barnes of Presque Isle; a son, Kevin Barnes and his wife, Tricia of Presque Isle; a daughter, Penny Jones of Fort Fairfield; a brother, Robert Wright and his wife, Leslie of Orono; two brothers, Sonny Doherty and his wife, Edith of Elliot Lake, Ont., Canada, Wiley Doherty and his wife, Shirley of Mars Hill; three sisters, Mary Jane Caron of Bangor, Carol Manson of Hancock, and Rita Gustin of Branford, CT; three grandchildren, Jessica and Colin Goshorn, and Shyanne Barnes;
several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, David and Albert Wright; and a sister, Dixie Langley.
Friends may call 12 noon Wed., Dec. 9, 2015, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in Estes Park Cemetery, Easton.
