HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for the following programs. To register, call the Department at 532-1310.
Vacation Fun Program for grades PreK to 6 will be held on both Monday, Dec. 28, through Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Each day will be filled with games, crafts & snacks. Registration limits are 10 minimum / 24 maximums. Cost is $5 per day per child plus cost of McDonalds lunch on Tuesday. Flyers have been distributed throughout the local school systems with details of the program. Registration is required and deadline is Dec. 21.
MRPA/ Maine Red Claws Hot Shot Basketball Contest will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Rec Center. A practice round will be held at 1 p.m. on this day followed by the shoot off at 2 p.m. Youth between the ages of 9-15 years may participate in this event. This event is free to all participants. Age divisions are decided on a Dec. 31 birthdate. For more information or to register, contact the Houlton Recreation Department by Dec. 21.
Open Gym and Game room hours during the Christmas Vacation Break are as follows: Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1-5 p.m.; Closed Dec. 24-25; Saturday, Dec. 26 through Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1-4 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 30, 3-4:30 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 31, 1-3 p.m.; Closed Jan. 1; Saturday, Jan. 2 and Sunday, Jan. 2, 2016, 1-4 p.m. For more information, give the Houlton Recreation Department a call at 532-1310 or like us on Facebook.
Parents and Tot Time will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30-10 a.m. Parents are invited to bring their toddlers to this unstructured time to play in the gym and meet new friends. This is Free to all that attend. This will continue until May 1, 2016.
Walkers are welcome to come and get their exercise throughout the winter. Normal hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the Holiday season, the schedule is as follows: Monday, Dec. 21-23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m. to noon; Closed Dec. 25 (Merry Christmas); Monday, Dec. 28-30, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Close Jan. 1 (Happy New Years); Resume regular hours on Monday, Jan. 4, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
