CHESTERFIELD, NJ & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Elizabeth K. Dolan, 79, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Virtua Medical Center in Mt. Holly, NJ.
Born in Presque Isle, she attended Husson University in Bangor. After graduation, Elizabeth moved to the Washington, D.C. area and worked for the U.S. State Department including an overseas assignment in Athens, Greece. She later moved to the Chesterfield area after she met and married her husband, Thayer.
A member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bordentown and St. Peter’s at the Light Episcopal Church in Barnegat Light, Elizabeth loved spending time on Long Beach Island fishing and relaxing on the beach.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed returning to Maine for family vacations on Squa Pan Lake. She enjoyed traveling, taking many trips, especially later in life, and loved her home in Chesterfield, where she found solitude.
Always an avid reader, Elizabeth loved mystery novels. She was also a longtime Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
Daughter of the late Harley and Glenna Kierstead, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years, Thayer Sr.; and her brother, Galen. Elizabeth is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Susan Kierstead of New Hampshire; her sister-in-law, Peggy Kierstead of Virginia; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Thayer Jr. and Susan Jane Dolan of Sweden, and Michael and Lisa Ann Dolan of Maryland; her grandchildren, Michael Dickinson and his wife, Kylynn, Rachel Dickinson, and Kiera, Torrey, Taylor and Michael Dolan; her dear friends, David and Christine Zelley of Wrightstown; as well as one uncle and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by many.
A memorial service will be celebrated 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, at Christ Episcopal Church, Bordentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 130 Prince St., Bordentown, NJ 08505 or to St. Peter’s at the Light Episcopal Church in Barnegat Light, P.O. Box 428, Barnegat Light, NJ 08006.
