Winterfest Committee slates first meeting

    The Mars Hill Winterfest Committee will be meeting Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. to begin plans for this year’s March activities. The meeting will be held at the Mars Hill Recreation Center. Anyone interested in joining this committee and helping to plan these events is encouraged to attend.

    This year’s Winterfest activities will take place on March 18 and 19. If you can’t make the meeting, but have ideas for new events or want to help, please contact Dave Collins at 227-0485 or Kathy Miller at 425-3771.
    This committee is now the same one that organizes the summer Homecoming activities.

Rotary Club raffle scheduled

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club is selling raffle tickets. With over 16 items on the ticket, you have great chances to win a prize. Items include 100 gallons of oil, an IGA gift certificate, CAHS basketball season tickets, gas cards, oil changes and much more. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available from any Rotarian, at the Mars Hill town office or at the superintendent’s office.
    The prizes will be drawn during halftime of the boys CAHS vs. Fort Fairfield basketball game on Dec. 30. Benefits from this raffle will go toward the purchase of two iPads for the Aroostook Health Center residents’ use and the Mars Hill Rotary Scholarship Fund.

Birthday calendars

    The Birthday Calendars for 2016 have arrived and are available from any Rotarian, at the Mars Hill or Blaine town offices or at the superintendent’s office. The cost is $6 each and make a great Christmas gift!

Library preparing for auction

    The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library in Mars Hill is getting ready for the annual “Bidding for Good” Auction in January. Hand-crafted items, baked goods and more are being sought to feature in the auction.

Aroostook Health Center

    Upcoming events for the week of Dec. 16-22 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., visits from the Fort Street Pre-K students at 9:30 a.m. and a Christmas Cantata “Breath of Heaven” by the Mars Hill United Baptist and East Ridge Union Churches at 6:30 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Employees’ Christmas Service at 2 p.m. and Old Fashioned Revival at 6:30 p.m.
    Friday will feature Christmas Jingo at 9:30 a.m. and the Residents’ Christmas Party at 1:30 p.m. Saturday is a free day with games, puzzles and movies available in the day room. Sunday will feature the Full Gospel Assembly Service at 3 p.m. Monday will feature Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., a Hallmark Christmas Movie at 1:30 p.m., and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., and Card Games at 1:30 p.m.
    All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.

Rotary Club meeting

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Dec. 8 at the Aroostook Health Center. Members discussed upcoming events, the raffle and birthday calendars.

Bingo

    The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post. There are cash prizes and refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends.
