Registration opens Monday
for next session of lessons
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Recreation Center will accept pre-paid registrations for the upcoming winter session. Registrations will be accepted Dec. 21-23 and 28-31, 2015 from 8 to 5 p.m. The session is set for Jan. 4 to Feb. 13, 2016 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Gentile Hall. There are openings in the following classes:
Parent/Toddler (6 months to 3 years), which requires an adult to be in the water, has spaces available Tuesday, 9-9:25 a.m.; Thursday, 6-6:25 p.m.; or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.
PRE 1 (for ages 3-5 and not comfortable in the water) has openings Tuesday, 5-5:25 p.m.; Thursday, 4-4:25 p.m.; Friday, 9-9:25 a.m.; or Saturday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.
PRE 2 (for ages 3-5, comfortable in the water) offers sessions Monday, 10-10:25 a.m.; Tuesday, 9:30-9:55 a.m., 3-3:25 p.m. and 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Wednesday, 10-10:25 a.m. and 5-5:25 p.m.; Thursday, 4:30-4:55 p.m.; Friday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.; or Saturday, 10-10:25 a.m.
PRE 3 (ages 3-5, swimming) has openings Tuesday, 3:30-3:55 p.m. or Saturday, 10:30-10:55 a.m.
Learn to Swim 2 is for the beginner who is comfortable in the water but not swimming. This level has openings Tuesday, 4-4:50 p.m.; Wednesday, 5:30-6:20 p.m.; or Saturday, 9-9:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 3-4 classes are Wednesday, 9-9:50 a.m.; Thursday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Friday, 3:10-4 p.m.; or Saturday, 10-10:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 5-6 is offered Tuesday, 6-6:50 p.m. and Wednesday, 10:30-11:20 a.m.
Adapted lessons for children with autism that require an adult in the water has slots available on Fridays from 4-4:50 p.m.
Adult lessons are on Thursdays from 6:30-7:20 p.m. Shallow water exercise classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. and deep water exercise classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-4:50 p.m.
The recreation center’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lessons have a $25 fee per participant. Non-residents will have an additional family fee of $50. For more information, call (207) 764-2545 or visit www.pirec.org.
