HOULTON, Maine — Tuesday’s wet, snowy weather caused numerous accidents around southern Aroostook County, with one involving a car striking the Salvation Army Thrift Store building.

According to Houlton Police Chief Joe McKenna, Robert J. Russell, 25, of Hodgdon was travelling north on Water Street when he failed to negotiate the sharp turn in the road. His vehicle, a 2006 Kia sedan, slid across the road, into the oncoming lane, where he was struck by a 2005 Dodge sedan driven by Christina Bagwell, 454, of Littleton.

Russell’s vehicle then proceeded to strike the Salvation Army Thrift Store causing about $500 in damage to the outside of the building. Both vehicles received extensive damage in the collision.

No charges were filed in the case.
