ROCKPORT — Rita A. Barlow, 91, died on December 7, 2015 at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport after a stroke she suffered on November 20th. She was born in Caribou on February 14, 1924 to Edward and Anna Martin Greenier of Caribou. Rita was married to Basil R. Barlow for 50 years. He predeceased her on December 22, 1995.

Rita enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was cooking and gardening in the summer months. She enjoyed taking trips to Florida, cruises and trips to Colorado. She enjoyed all music, mostly country and gospel, especially Daniel O’Donnell, as well as doing crossword puzzles and Sudoko.
Rita is predeceased by her parents; by two sons; Larry R. Barlow of Monroe and Richard R. Barlow of Wethersfield, CT. She is survived by her children, Louise A. Barlow of Hampton Cove, AL, Shirley Ryder of Belfast, Dale R. Barlow of Monroe, Gloria M. Bragdon of Conroe, TX, Linda Clements and husband Harold of Winterport; Douglas J. Barlow of Jackson, Debra Ingraham and husband Rodney of Knox, Darlene Koehler and husband Greg of Steamboat Springs, CO; her daughter-in -law, Barbara Barlow of Wethersfield, CT. Rita is also survived by her siblings, Giles Greenier of Elmire, NY, Vernal Greenier of Caribou, Phyllis M. Tatham of Laconia, NH, Loretta Mattoon of Fairport, NY, Donna Barden and husband Bob of Lumberton, NC, Diane J. Normandin of Enfield, CT. Rita has 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. A celebration of Rita’s life will be announced in the spring.
