ELLSWORTH, Maine — The Carlisle swim team made the trip to Hancock County Saturday for a dual meet with the Eagles, and despite lopsided losses for both genders, many of the local swimmers turned in strong performances.
The team scores were 122-34 in the girls’ meet and 118-17 in the boys’ meet.
Leigh Buck and Madelyn Wing both turned in first-place finishes. Buck was first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.04 seconds in the boys’ meet, while Wing won the girls’ 500 freestyle in 6 minutes and 4.44 seconds.
Austin Scott was second in the 100 fly, Wing second in the 200 free and Abigail Raymond second in the 100 back.
Third-place finishes were turned in by Raymond in the 100 free, Elizabeth Deschenes in the girls’ 100 breast and David Govoni in the boys’ 100 breast.
Relay teams taking third were the girls’ 200 medley (Abigail Espling, Raymond, Wing and Kyra Thibeault), the 200 free (Libbee Currie, Espling, Deschenes and Riley McNeal) and the 400 free (WIng, Thibeault, Adrianna Bither and Raymond).
