Ag dept surveying farmers on sustainability
Maine agricultural officials are looking to learn more about current management practices across the spectrum of farms, and what it might take to change some of them.
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is surveying farmers to track how they are “engaging in sustainable practices and protecting the future of the state’s natural resources.”
Among the topics the survey asks about are crop rotation and permaculture practices, as well as the potential benefits of some sort of sustainable farming certification.
“What would be the greatest incentive for your farm to be certified ‘sustainable?’” one questions asks.
The survey runs through February 15, 2016 and is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6QXHSSZ and through the DACF’s agricultural resource development division.
