Local students earn service academy nods
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King recently announced their nominees to the United States military academies. Among those nominated were three from Aroostook County schools.
Emma Bonner of Easton High School was nominated for attendance at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Earning nominations to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs were Bonner, along with Connor Grant of Houlton High School and Gordon McCulloh of Kennebunk, a student at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone.
To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes members of Congress.
