County gets new officers

VASSALBORO, Maine — Maine’s 60 newest police officers have graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.

New Aroostook County officers include Reid A. Clark, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office; Aaron M. Marquis, Caribou Police Department; Curtis J. Picard, Fort Kent Police Department; William M. Janakis, Houlton Police Department; and Tyler G. Cote, Presque Isle Police Department.
The graduates, who mostly come from the local and county ranks, spent 18 weeks at the academy in study and training. Among the many topics the officers studied were crime scene processing, emergency vehicle operation, first aid, traffic and criminal law, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Most of the new officers began patrolling immediately, in time for Christmas and New Year’s enforcement efforts.
