EXCELLENCE — Pat Webb, director of finance for the city of Presque Isle, shows off the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, which the city received recently from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The GFOA is headquartered in Chicago with offices in Washington, DC. The Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting was established in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to exceed the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and prepare annual financial reports that are transparent and provide full disclosure; and then to recognize entities that achieve that goal.
Priscilla “Pat” Webb has served as Presque Isle’s director of finance for eight years. Webb holds a bachelor’s degree in education and business administration with an emphasis in accounting. Prior to joining the city, she worked in the banking industry for 20 years, serving as a chief financial officer and comptroller. In addition, she worked as a certified public accountant for 10 years.
“It takes several people to win this award each year, from the department heads and their staff to the auditors, said Webb upon being notified of the award. “Everyone who played a part should be very proud of his or her good work and effort that was involved.”
GFOA was founded in 1906 and represents approximately 18,000 public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. Its mission is to enhance and promote the professional management of government resources by identifying, developing and advancing fiscal strategies, policies and practices to the public benefit.
