The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met Jan. 4 in the Parish Center. There were 13 members and moderator, Fr. David Raymond, present.
President Sue Hardy called the meeting to order and members recited opening prayers, followed by a luncheon provided by the January committee.
After lunch a business meeting was conducted by President Sue. Recording secretary Tammy Blanchette read the secretary’s report, treasurer Mary Grant read the treasurer’s report and corresponding secretary Alta Reardon read correspondence.
The Houlton group received two awards from the state council for contributions to the Seminarians’ Fund and Patrons’ Fund.
Prayer intentions were collected, followed by a decade of the Rosary led by President Sue. January birthdays were noted and Jane Mitchell won the door prize.
The next meeting will be Feb. 1. Members will bring lip care items to donate to the troops and the council will also purchase items to donate. The group will pack Valentine bags for shut-ins.
All Catholic women are invited to attend.
