LITTLETON, Maine — The Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum will host its annual membership supper on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016.
The roast beef supper is free for members, with paid memberships, or $9 per person to the general public. Serving will be from 4:30-6 p.m. The museum will be open for tours starting at 2 p.m. through the supper.
The museum is beginning its 14th season and has just completed its most recent project, an addition to the Carl and Helen Hagan Barn. The project was made possible by memorials, fundraisers and a grant from United States Rural Development. It was constructed by all volunteer help.
The current officers who will be on hand to greet guests for the evening are: President Francis Fitzpatrick, Jamey Watson, vice-president; Debbie Melvin, secretary; and Barry Campbell, treasurer.
The museum which began in 2002 has built a wonderful collection of Aroostook County furnishings and equipment from typical homes and farms from the late 1800s through the mid-1900s. It is now the largest collection north of Bangor. The organization operates with all volunteer help and hosts a variety of events during the year including, monthly suppers, a classic car and truck show, and craft fair. It is a venue for wedding receptions, funeral receptions, anniversaries, reunions and meetings. It is open for tours from June through September on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. To receive information on rental fees and available dates, contact Debbie Campbell, 538-9583.
The museum offers a step back in time for many guests. It offers a place for volunteers to spend time working with old friends or meeting new friends. If anyone is interested in volunteering your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Francis Fitzpatrick, 538-0050 or Karen Donato, 694-6099.
