CARIBOU — Jeffrey Sixmith Frost, 72, passed away January 7, 2016 at Fort Kent following a long illness. His wife of 33 years, Dawn Carde Frost was with him as he left his physical body, holding him in her arms.
Jeffrey was born in Caribou, February 10, 1943, the son of the late Royal Henry “RH” and Elizabeth Ann (Sixmith) Frost. He attended the Caribou Schools and graduated from Kent Hill Academy, a college prep school in Kents Hill. He then attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in history and government. There, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Frost owned and operated the Frost Insurance Agency in Caribou for many years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and also attended Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and led MYF with his wife. Mr. Frost served as a past President of the Save Loring Committee in the 1980’s which was successful in staving off the base closure. He was recently honored by the Maine Healthcare Association with its lifetime achievement award. Jeff loved to travel and spend time on the water canoeing and camping. He was a true people person who enjoyed time with his family and friends. Jeff also enjoyed working in his yard, was an avid runner and was a die-hard Red Sox fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Dawn, of Caribou are his children; Jon Frost and wife, Amy, of Wellington, Fl., Christian Hartman and wife, Sarah, of E. Greenwich, R.I., Shawn Frost and fianceé, Liliana Sierra Toon of Long Beach, CA., and Heidi Manter and husband, Shawn, of Caribou, seven grandchildren; Kayla, Kameron, Kerrigan, Brianna, Will, Sophia, Ben and one more on the way; one brother, Don Frost and wife, Alyson, of Westwood, MA; one sister, Jane Frost and husband, Lloyd, of Richmond. Many nieces and nephews. Jeff will be sadly missed by his beloved Chihuahuas, Roxy and Layla. Jeff loved his many friends but especially his best friend, Ron Ouellette of Caribou. Mr. Frost was predeceased by his parents and a special grandfather, William Sixmith “Daddy Bill”. Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church the Rev. Tim Wilcox, officiating. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall.
