Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Jan. 5 at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Randy Bacon, Director of Ancillary and Clinical Support Services at TAMC.
He spoke about the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan machine that is now in use at TAMC. It is the standard in medical imaging for identification and staging of cancerous lesions. Each test takes about two hours to complete, but can do CT scanning at the same time.
Currently there are around 300 patients each year that need to go downstate for a PET scan. This machine will allow them to stay much closer to home for testing. It will also allow for faster and earlier cancer diagnoses and treatments. Testing will be done twice a week and must be scheduled ahead of time as material for each test is time sensitive and must be ordered from outside sources.
Bingo held Saturdays
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo on Saturday evening beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post. There are cash prizes and refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
