Young thespians take the stage

 WASHBURN NEWS

On Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, the Washburn District School, along with the 21st Century after-school program, presented the play “The Princess and the Pea.”

The play was directed by Children’s Stage Adventures, a nonprofit organization created to enrich the lives of children through participation in a live theatre experience. Children’s Stage Adventures provided all the sets, costumes and lighting.
The two-member crew arrived at Washburn District Elementary School on Monday and began auditions for the play. The cast, comprised of over 40 students in grades 1-8, spent the week preparing for the performance. They did such a wonderful job, and it was hard to believe that they had only begun learning lines five days ago.

Hand-poured soaps

The Washburn District High School life skills students have begun making Melt & Pour Soaps as a fundraiser. The proceeds earned from the soap sales will be used to support the Life Skills Program (field trips, cooking and classroom materials).
There are currently 14 scented soaps to choose from. The soap comes in 2-ounce bars for $1 or 4-ounce bars for $2.
