James W. Sewall company partners with Town of Fort Fairfield
The Town of Fort Fairfield is conducting an Internet feasibility study in partnership with the James W. Sewall Company.
The study, which has been underway since late last fall, will provide extensive information about the current infrastructure in place that facilitates the delivery of broadband and options to improve Internet access and speeds in the community.
As part of the study, the town and Sewall will be conducting an in-depth survey of residents’ and businesses’ Internet access and usage in all corners of the community. The survey can be taken online by visiting surveymonkey.com/r/Fort_Fairfield_Broadband.
“It is imperative that folks take the time to participate in this survey so that we can get a true gauge of the myriad of ways people are connecting to the Internet, and the impacts of connectivity, and how the high cost, low reliability or lack of access may be impacting their lives,” said Tim Goff, marketing and economic director for the town of Fort Fairfield.
“While we did conduct a targeted survey last summer for a specific project, this new survey is designed to encompass the entire community and arm us with data that will help us bring a more robust and reliable Internet infrastructure to Fort Fairfield,” he explained.
Thanks in large part to the efforts the town made on its own, Sewall has generously donated its services and expertise to assist with the feasibility study, saving the community tens of thousands of dollars.
The study will assess and map current Internet infrastructure and access within the community, look at options to address substandard broadband connectivity and their associated costs, and provide the town with information to help chart a course to faster and more reliable Internet access. The study is expected to be completed in the early spring.
