Foundation’s 15th annual Diamond Raffle now underway

HOULTON, Maine — The Health Services Foundation is once again getting ready to raffle off a number of diamond related pieces of merchandise to raise funds for various health care purchases.

“The Health Services Foundation is so excited to be able to continue this event with the help of Walter Goodrich and keep this fabulous fundraiser going,” said Elizabeth Dulin, executive director for Health Services Foundation. “Goodrich Jewelry was the reason this event began 15 years ago at the suggestion of Walter and the rest has been history. This fundraiser has been so successful by assisting the Foundation with its ability to bring so much to our area in support of local health care, and having Walter still involved is a big win for our fundraising efforts.”

Goodrich Jewelry closed in Houlton a couple of years ago, but Walter Goodrich has remained connected with the fundraiser, providing pieces to be raffled.

This year’s diamond raffle will offer the following prizes:

First prize — Three Stone Round Bezel Set Diamond Ring, 14K Yellow Gold with a value of $5,000. The ring was designed by Goodrich, and is a total of one full carat.

Second prize — A Moissanite Solitaire Pendant with a value of $1,299 and is a total of one full carat. A $300 Visa Gift Card, and the sponsor for these two items is Hogan Tire.

Third prize — Flowers and Chocolates with a $50 Gift Card, and sponsored in part by Chadwick Florist with a total value of $145.

The drawing will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 at noon at Uncle Willy’s Candy Shoppe , 60 Main St., Houlton. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at the Foundation Office, First Floor of Houlton Regional Hospital, credit card by calling 207-521-2503, or by check to Health Services Foundation, PO Box 1231, Houlton ME, 04730. Ticket buyers must be 16 or older to participate, and winner responsible for all taxes.

Current Foundation fundraising is focusing on a three phased $350,000 broad-based campaign, however the proceeds from this specific fundraiser will be used to purchase a coagulation instrument for Houlton Regional Hospital. Phases Two and Three will address acute care, ambulatory surgery, cardiac rehab, dietary, emergency room, labor and delivery, nursing education, operating room and physical/occupational therapy.

In all, 24 items for 12 departments will replace aging equipment, provide necessary upgrades to existing pieces and provide for nursing education.

“With a fundraiser this big being conducted for Houlton Regional, we hope everyone will want to buy a raffle ticket so we may continue to assist our hospital healthcare providers with the very best in equipment/services we can offer,” said Dulin.
