HOULTON — Ruth H. Brooke 90, passed away Jan. 13, 2016 at a local health care facility. She was born July 6, 1925 in Little Deer Isle, the daughter of Captain Wilmont and Grace M. (Mahoney) Hardy.
Ruth grew up in Little Deer Isle and attended local schools. She later moved to Houlton and raised her four children while working various jobs. Ruth loved to knit, crochet, go for walks and eating a good Maine lobster. She was known to be a very independent, strong and determined woman. She loved her family and always put them first.
Ruth is survived by her four children Ruth Henderson and her husband Gary of Amity, Brian Folsom and his wife Janet of Hodgdon, Brenda Farrar and her husband George of Amity, Barbara Ashworth of Limestone; six grandchildren, Ruth Harriman, Kevin Kneiper, Matt Folsom, Travis Swimm, Courtney Farrar and Laura Ashworth, five great-grandchildren; a half brother Wilmont Hardy and his wife Cathy, two half sisters, Pamela Ripley and her husband Fred, Dolores Allen all of Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Horace, her brother Leroy Hardy, two sisters Marie Clough and Dorothy Goudin, a granddaughter Marcia Folsom and a grandson Christopher Folsom.
