Middle School cheering crown
PI White finishes in third place
MARS HILL, Maine — The championship plaque for the Aroostook League Cheering Competition is staying put in Mars Hill as the Central Aroostook Junior High School was once again victorious in the middle school competition.
Held Jan. 6 at CAHS, the young Panther squad put on a dazzling performance to once again emerge victorious. The squad from Houlton finished as runners-up in the competition, while the Presque Isle Middle School White squad was third. Also participating were squads from Caribou and the PIMS Blue team.
Cheering squads were comprised of students in grades six, seven and eight.
Team awards were as follows: Best Team Jumps, CAJHS; Best Team Motions, Houlton; Best Team Dance, PIMS White; Best Team Tumbling, CAJHS; Best Team Stunts, CAJHS; and Spirit Award, Houlton.
Individual All-Star awards were also bestowed to the following cheerleaders: 6th/7th-grade Jumps, 1, Jenna Rusby, CAJHS, and 2, Janelle Tweedie, CAJHS; 8th-grade Jumps, 1, Paige Ford, Houlton, and 2, Clara Kohlbacher, PI White; Tumbling, Ford, Houlton, and 2, Amy Gerritsen, CAJHS; Stunts, 1, Jenna Rusby, 2, Janelle Tweedie, 3, Gerritsen, 4, Alyssa Tweedie, and 5, Elizabeth Hotham, all of CAJHS.
Team members of CAJHS include: Alyssa Tilley, Abby Farley, Emma Fletcher, Elizabeth Hotham, Daisy Grant, Madison Howlett, Ellen Billings, Jannelle Tweedie, Mersaydez Johnston, Amy Gerritsen, Jenna Rusby, Audree Burtt and Frankie Kearney. The coaches are Kyle Donahue and Brittni Morrison.
Team members for Presque Isle Blue include, Rebekah Poliero, Alexis Moro, Isabella Harvath, Jeanna Knight, Abby Cloney, Brenna Morneau, Erica Rosten, Jayde Cooke, Delaini Huston, Jordyn Martin, Alyssa Addington and McKenzie Stambaugh. The coach is Julie Stephenson.
Team members for Presque Isle White include Taylor Hedrich, Clara Kohlbacher, Hana Boucher, Alexa Perkins, Heather Wright, Delanie Alward, Sydney Robichaud, Charlotte Carrier, Sophia Lambert, Danica Haskell and Libby Kinney. The coach is Kelsie Spooner.
