Kenneth W. McKee

     CARIBOU — Kenneth W. McKee, 72, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Center in Caribou. He was born August 28, 1943 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of William and Elizabeth (Sinnott) McKee.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Judith (Johnson) McKee of Caribou, daughter, Kendra and her husband, Brent Melvin, and granddaughter, Kayla Melvin of Brewer, and son, William Arthur McKee.  He is also survived by a brother, Robert E. McKee and wife Frances of Louisiana, and five sisters-in-law: Pamela J. Schreiber, Sandra E. Johnson, Judith Monroe, Karen H. Johnson, and Sue Estler. Ken was predeceased by a sister, Betty, a brother-in-law, Richard Schreiber, and a sister-in-law, Paula D. Johnson. Ken will be sadly missed by special friends Karin and Roland Dionne, Jim Soucy, Mark Wagner, and BooBoo, his Siamese cat.

     Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1966. When Ken moved to Maine, he started working as a mechanic in the Evergreen Bowling Center at Loring Air Force Base. He then taught Engine Rebuilding classes through the Northern Maine Vocational Technical Center while working and later managing the Auto Crafts Center until the based closed. Ken enjoyed working with wood and became self-taught. He build drop-leaf tables with inlaid animals and made moose pins that were very popular the Caribou Arts and Crafts Fair each fall.

    The family wishes to offer special thanks to Peggy Nichols, Claire Hodgkins, and Moe and Laurie Pelletier for all their love and support.

     Committal services may be offered later in the spring.
