Local parish offers special devotion

CARIBOU, Maine — The Parish of the Precious Blood has received, thanks to the generosity of some parishioners and the local Knights of Columbus councils, a small trifold shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for each worship site.

The ministry is brought to the area by The Pilgrim Queen of the Family, an informal network of Catholic families united by devotion to Mary and the desire to pray as a family. A DVD about Our Lady of Guadalupe will accompany the shrines for viewing by the families.

On the weekend of Feb. 13-14, 2016, the small shrine will be given to a couple or family before the end of Mass. During the week, the family will be invited to gather around the shrine for prayer and to invite other family, friends and neighbors to join them in praying for the church, the world, Pope Francis and religious leaders, families and those in need. A new couple or family will receive the shrine the following weekend.

Parishioners may examine the shrine and sign up to receive it in their homes. Someone will be available at each worship site to answer questions and offer sign-up sheets.

This ministry is sponsored by the parish’s Family Life Commission. Our Lady of Guadalupe is Patroness of the Americas and the unborn.
