Easton High School Athletic Director Steve Shaw was honored to welcome Drew Sotomayor to the 50-goal club in soccer.
Sotomayor is an all-Eastern Maine soccer player who scored 72 goals during his outstanding career, placing him second all time in boys’ career scoring to Holden Turner, who had 73.
On behalf of the Easton Athletic Department, Sotomayor was presented his award by his coach, Ryan Shaw, and the chairman of the Easton School Board, Galen Flewelling, who is also Sotomayor’s grandfather.
Margaret Adams’ 90th birthday celebration
Fan of the Year named
Every few years, the athletic department at Easton High School recognizes a “Fan of the Year.”
The recipient this year has been around as long as this gym. He has been to every middle school game and every high school game that his children and grandchildren have participated in, both home and on the road.
This individual has given many years of service to each and every student in Easton. His shared wisdom, guidance and concern, not only to the athletic department, but to the whole Easton School System, is unsurpassed.
On behalf of the athletic director Steve Shaw, Superintendent Roger Shaw and Principal Cameron Adams presented the Fan of the Year to Gaylen Flewelling. Congratulations and thanks for all that you do.
Girl Scouts in need of troop leader
The Easton Girl Scouts are currently looking for adult volunteers to lead a new troop of girls in Kindergarten and grade one.
Troop 691, the troop currently based in Easton, can no longer take on younger girls in order to better care for their current members of girls in grades 2-8. A second troop and new leaders are needed to keep the Girl Scouting traditions and experiences alive in our great community of Easton.
Anyone can apply to be a Girl Scout volunteer. You do not have to be a Girl Scout mom to be a leader. Dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and even moms with sons who just want some “girl time” can apply to be a volunteer!
Each troop needs two unrelated, Girl Scouts of Maine-approved volunteers, one of which is a female, to work together as its leaders. Those interested in being a volunteer or if you have a daughter who would like to join Girl Scouts should contact Kris Lento at 207-488-2632 or krislento@gmail.com.
