Kiwi, a shorthaired female, ventured to southern Maine with nine other cats last Thursday, and by Friday afternoon she had found her forever home. The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Hart of Cumberland and Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk have partnered with Halfway Home Pet Rescue to help find good homes for Aroostook County felines for the past four years. In 2015, these groups found homes for 166 of HHPR’s homeless cats. The rescue will send another group of cats to southern Maine later this month. In 2015, HHPR served more than 450 homeless cats with shelter, food and medical care while they prepared for a new loving home. |
