Carlisle swim teams get ready for PVCs

 PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — In the final regular season meet before the upcoming Penobscot Valley Conference championships, the Carlisle swim teams split with Foxcroft Academy at the Gentile Hall pool Saturday. The boys managed a 64-41 win, while the girls fell, 106-50.

The boys’ 200 medley relay team of Nate Gere, David Govoni, Austin Scott and Leigh Buck finished in one minute and 53.64 seconds to take first place. The foursome also took the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.24.

The relay members also excelled in individual events with two victories apiece. Gere won the 200 free in 2:12.01 and the 100 fly in 1:03.66, while Scott took the 200 I.M. in 2:20.23 and the 100 back in 1:09.35. Buck was victorious in the 50 free in 24.25 seconds and the 500 free in 5:56.73 and Govoni led the way in the 100 free in 1:00.62 and the 100 breast in 1:17.73.

Top individual results on the girls’ side were: Maddie Wing, first in the 200 free in 2:09.70 and second in 100 fly in 1:06.79; and Kyra Thibeault in the 500 free in 7:39.09.

In the 200 free relay, Libbee Currie, Adrianna Bither, Lizzie Deschenes and Riley McNeal were second in 2:21.78, while in the 400 free relay, Abby Espling, Abby Raymond, Thibeault and Wing were second in 4:44.87.

The boys’ PVC meet is Friday at Husson University in Bangor and the girls’ meet is Saturday at the University of Maine at Orono.
