PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Aroostook State Park, Maine’s first state park, will host its ninth annual Winter Family Fun Day on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Scott Thompson, park director, invites the community to come and spend a winter’s day at the park.
“We have everything you need to have fun with the family, outside in Aroostook County’s winter wonderland,” he said. “Have no equipment? Don’t know how to use it? Don’t worry; we have all of that, including expert instruction. All you need is to wear warm winter clothing and want to have fun.”
Among the activities participants can enjoy are cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating (conditions permitting), the sliding hill, snowmobile “tote-rides,” guided nature interpretive walks and bonfires.
There will be hot food, Smokey the Bear will come out of hibernation and the Maine Warden Service will join in the day’s fun. There is a small fee of $1.50 for adults 12-64; everyone else is admitted free. Lunch will be provided.
