Maine Families staff achieve certification

    Members of Maine Families, a home-based service providing support to expectant parents and parents with a newborn, attended a weeklong training and passed an exam to become Certified Lactation Counselors.

    CERTIFIED — Members of Maine Families, a home-based service providing support to expectant parents and parents with a newborn, attended a week long training and passed an exam to become Certified Lactation Counselors. PT LO CLC 6 16 16934997    CLC Certification means that a person has received training and competency verification in breastfeeding and lactation support including assessing the latching and feeding process, providing corrective interventions, counseling mothers, understanding and applying knowledge of milk production including commonly encountered situations. This training gives CLCs a strong foundation with which to help moms and babies.
    Skilled parenting professionals visit with families in their homes, at no cost to the family, to share experiences about parenting & child development, provide helpful child care tips, and connect families to community resources.
