ASHLAND – Irene B. Chandler, 86, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born March 17, 1929, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Angus and Delia (Morrow) Burby.
Irene owned and operated former Chris’ Diner, Ashland, for over 18 years and Chris’ Motel & Restaurant, almost 10 years. She loved to dote on her little pooch, Pumpkin.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Pool and her husband, James of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Chris McPherson and her husband, Stuart of Ashland; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Wendell D. Chandler; a sister, Pauline Clark; and two brothers, Fred and Richard Burby.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., P.O. Box 39, Ashland. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning, 10 a.m. until the time of service. Spring burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Sheridan.
